Hello

I'm Kevin Barry, a filmmaker from Loveland, Colorado, and a recent graduate of the University of Tampa. I’m passionate about storytelling, visual language, and the collaborative spirit of filmmaking. I love working with others to bring creative ideas to life and am always eager to learn, grow, and take on new challenges.

My Story

I’m a filmmaker and video editor based in the U.S., with a passion for storytelling that balances absurdity and realism. My journey into film began during my junior year of high school after watching The Irishman (2019). It was one of the first critically acclaimed films that really grabbed me, not just as entertainment but as something meaningful. That moment reshaped how I saw cinema and sparked a deep interest in filmmaking.

Soon after, I took a film elective that opened my eyes to the complexity of visual storytelling: how plots, themes, and images can come together to create something emotionally resonant. That led me to pursue a BFA in Film and Media Arts from the University of Tampa, where I honed both my creative and technical skills.

Early on, I faced challenges with camera operation and shot design, but those struggles became stepping stones. Some of my early projects, like The Life of a Pencil (2023) and Wake Up! (2023), may be rough around the edges, but they’re a reminder of how far I’ve come. Today, I thrive in cinematography and directing. I love building shot lists, shaping visual language, and working closely with collaborators to craft strong, emotionally grounded scenes.

I'm especially drawn to satirical stories grounded in the crime genre with a focus on tone, irony, and character. My goal is to build experience across a wide range of productions, develop my voice as a visual storyteller, and one day direct feature-length films of my own
